Our Research Program
The CAMP Lab studies both human and non-human animal models of physiology, metabolism, and performance. We strive to advance the field of physiology through integrative research and teamwork. We value curiosity, collaboration, and a commitment to scientific integrity, striving to make impactful contributions to science and society. The CAMP Lab supports team science, collaborating with researchers with diverse expertise to study physiology from an integrative perspective across many levels of biology ranging from molecular to ecological.
Our Research Mission
We strive to inspire curiosity, explore biological questions with rigorous science, and communicate our findings to advance knowledge and inspire others. We aim to push the boundaries of knowledge in physiology, conducting studies that address real-world health challenges and translating findings into practical solutions.
Our Core Values
In the CAMP Lab we believe that curiosity is the core of science. Our values are grounded in respect for all individuals, a passion for discovery, a commitment to ethical practices, and fostering an inclusive research environment.

Comparative Animal Physiology
We investigate the intricate functions of biological systems to better understand health and disease.
Human Research
Research on the physiology of animals adapted to extreme environments or unique conditions can inform research on human clinical conditions.
Research on unique models of animal physiology can inspire novel approaches to human clinical conditions.
Basic Science Research
Many of the basic physiological principles that help animals maintain homeostasis are almost universal among animals. Studying basic principles of physiology such as oxygen transport, gene expression, and metabolism can inform ...
