Bio

Gregory Korte is a senior reporter on the White House and Politics team at Bloomberg News,¹ covering presidential politics. His data-driven work focuses on political demographics, public opinion, and political economics.

Prior to joining Bloomberg in 2019, Gregory was a White House correspondent at USA Today, and covered business, police, courts, local government and state politics in Ohio at The Cincinnati Enquirer, Akron Beacon Journal and Lorain Morning Journal.

In 2017, Gregory was awarded the Gerald R. Ford Journalism Prize for Distinguished Reporting on the Presidency. The award recognized his reporting on the last year of the Obama White House, and cited his “excellent work following a path less traveled” on the White House beat by seeking out original source documents and data about the presidency. He previously won honorable mention for the same award in 2015.

Other awards include the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism, the Benjamin Fine Award for education reporting, the Niles Cushing Dolbeare Award for housing reporting and the Fund for American Studies Excellence in Economic Journalism Award. In 2018, he received the L.J. Hortin Distinguished Alumnus Award from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, and the Outstanding Service to Journalism Award from the Cincinnati Society of Professional Journalists. He was named the best reporter in Ohio by the Society of Professional Journalists in 2007 and received the national SPJ’s 2003 Sunshine Award for his contributions in the area of open government.

He teaches political journalism and media law in the Honors Tutorial College and serves on the executive committee of the Scripps Semester in DC Program.

A native of Cincinnati, he holds bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and Ohio University’s College of Arts and Sciences. He lives in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife and daughter.
