A Word (or More) About Chapter Outlines

These outlines are designed to serve as guides to help focus your reading of important topics. They are not intended to be a replacement for attending class and/or taking notes during class sessions.

Use the outlines to structure your notes in preparation for the exams. In particular, pay close attention to the number of points/sub-points for Key Topics related potential exam questions. If you complete your outlines, you should have sufficient detail to answer these questions.

The outlines are Word documents. Making them available as Word documents allows you to download and format them as you desire. The danger in providing outlines is that they create an expectation about what will be covered in class. Class is experiential. Hence, the outlines guide your "first exposure" to course material when you do the reading outside of class. I may not cover all material in class and/or I may cover things in a slightly different manner. I most assuredly will add things in class that do not appear on the outline. If you have any confusion about material in the text/outlines, feel free to ask.

Chapter Outlines

Remember, outlines are provided as a guide for notetaking when completing assigned chapter readings OUTSIDE of class. Only sections labeled "To Be Provided" should be completed in class. If you are filling out most of the outline in class, you will probably miss valuable illustrations.
