What Can PBIO Do For You?

Explore the environment. Build real skills. Prepare for a career.

Liked meeting this tree? That’s what we do at OHIO Environmental & Plant Biology. Learn to identify plants, work in the field, use biotechnology, manage forests and soils, grow food, and restore ecosystems — hands-on experience that sets your science degree apart.

You don’t have to be a PBIO major to take most of these courses. A few students love:

• PBIO 2480 • Dendrology — Learn to identify trees (exactly what this hunt is about!)
• PBIO 2070 • Biology of the City — The hidden ecology of cities and the nature around you
• PBIO 2050 • Biotechnology: From Lab to Life — How biotech is changing food, medicine, and daily life
• PBIO 2060 • Sustainable Agriculture — Practical ways to grow food while protecting the environment
• PBIO 3330 • Restoration Ecology — How to bring damaged ecosystems back to life

Many count toward graduation requirements, too.
